Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, has declared Nigeria’s readiness to collaborate with Saudi Arabia to enhance food production and investment. This declaration came during the visit of Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Engr. Abdulrahman Alfadley, and his delegation to Abuja.
Kyari underscored the priority accorded to food security and agriculture by President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He acknowledged the commendable reforms initiated by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, supported by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, recognizing the social and economic significance thereof.
Highlighting the enduring bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, Kyari referenced discussions from a Nigerian delegation’s visit to Saudi Arabia six months prior, focusing on potential collaborations and investments in irrigation, livestock, farmland development, and value addition.
Mrs. Anthonia Eremah, the Ministry’s Director of Information, elaborated on President Tinubu’s openness to diverse ideas fostering agricultural sector development and investment. The partnership aims to boost food production and attract investments, aligning with mutual interests.
Engr. Abdulrahman Abdulmoshen expressed Saudi Arabia’s interest in investing in Nigeria’s agriculture sector, targeting its market and exploring opportunities within both countries’ private sectors.
Kyari reaffirmed Nigeria’s dedication to enhancing food production and investment, expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality during the visit. The collaboration between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia is poised to create significant investment prospects in agriculture, particularly in irrigation, livestock, farmland development, and value addition. This partnership seeks to bolster food production, enhance food security, spur economic growth, and fortify the enduring bilateral ties between the two nations.
